Actress
Wilma Lidén
What role does fashion play when you’re portraying a character as an actress?
being an actress has made me understand how much the costumes add to a character. how much colors and garments and jewelry add to the viewers first impression. i find it easier to get into character when i wear something that Wilma would never wear.
it has also helped me to understand what i HATE to wear haha.
What’s one fashion trend you hope never comes back?
Ugh I remember when I was in middle school and everyone was wearing those horrendous zig zag pants, odd molly shirts and Hollister skinny jeans. I hope the 20-year rule doesn’t apply on those!
How do you define your personal style?
hmm… half punk, half candy. but it changes every day, some days I dress like a lazy dad and some days I dress like a princess. I guess it depends on my mood.
What’s your go-to outfit when you’re on set?
anything comfy. early mornings and late evenings don’t work with uncomfortable clothes. usually a juicy couture set, uggs or moon boots and eye patches haha. sometimes people don’t recognize me at the wrap parties.
What’s your guilty pleasure when it comes to fashion?
saving every bad outfit with a good hairstyle and jewelery…
What’s your favorite vintage find?
Top 5
- Christian dior corset from Nuovo in Paris
- Pink Guess handbag from Studio Bang in Gothenburg
- Saint Laurent platform leather heels with painted hearts!!!!!!!!
- Marithé + françois girbaud dress from Vinted
- Pink 90s Versace Body
Tell me a staple piece everyone should have in their closet.
Oh my god, there are so many. Baggy jeans for lazy days—my favorites are from Acne, Weekday, The Ragged Priest, and Samsøe. Vintage basketball shorts. Pointed-toe heels. Capri pants. A black maxi dress. Ballerinas. I even have an 'I-can’t-find-anything-for-this-occasion' section to avoid mental breakdowns ;)
How do you keep your style fresh and exciting without constantly shopping?
It’s so easy to get stuck on how a garment should be styled or used. I’m not sure I’ve found the solution yet, but I love experimenting—wearing a garment back to front, using a skirt as a dress, or a dress as a skirt. Since fashion has no rules, you can really play around!"
What’s the first fashion item you remember falling in love with?
I remember seeing a coat at Desigual when I was about 8. You could turn it inside out—one side was black, and the other was a color explosion. I begged my mom for it, coming up with all sorts of arguments for why I NEEDED it. And it worked! I wore it every winter for many years.
Is there a particular era or decade that most inspires your fashion choices, both on and off the screen?
I’ve always dreamt of portraying a character from the 1700s or 1800s. Sometimes I go to Swedish Television's costume storage just to look at Marie Antoinette dresses. Personally, I’m inspired by the 90s and early 2000s. The fashion was so much more interesting back then..
